A Plum Island Fairy Tale

A story  once told

of an old woman that walked the shores of Plum Island at sunrise collecting twigs and branches that came in with the tides.

Now this particular old woman

held certain beliefs about fairies and enchanted forests. She believed that what she found along the beach was brought to her from these magical forests.

A creative  soul

she fashioned fairy houses from what she found each morning in hopes that perhaps the fairies would one day return.

One morning

as the sun peeked out onto the sea, waves of tiny white shells glimmered across the shore. Scooping them up, she now knew why the fairies had not returned, they had lost their wings.

With mortar & pestle

she created fairy dust from these lost wings as she believed that they still held magical powers.

Now imagine if you will,

tiny shell winged fairies living in these houses of enchanted wood carried by the ocean tides to the shores of Plum Island, waiting for us all to believe once more….
